Motherwell Cheshire Annual Conference

Looking back at our conference…

Our annual conference took place on 17th October at Cheshire College South & West Crewe Campus where over 50 people attended from various local sectors.

There were a full range of topics covered by lots of inspirational speakers. The day started with an introduction from Motherwell Cheshire CEO and founder Kate Blakemore.

Doctor Rachel Barnes Womens Health Lead GP for the primary care network in Chelford, Handforth, Wilmslow and Alderley Edge gave an interesting and insightful talk on women’s health through the life course.

There were 3 different panels:

Women in sport where Sale Sharks Foundation manager of women and girls’ rugby programmes, India Pennis-Redding, Rebecca Davis, PE Teacher & Captain Ladies Nantwich Town Football Club, and Danielle Fisher, Vice-Captain Ladies Nantwich Town Football Club came together and talked openly about some of the challenges faced within women’s sports.

Young Persons Panel where a diverse mix of young people aged 16-25 spoke about their own stories, stigma, and myths.

Lived Experience Panel – Total Inclusion a diverse panel of people who shared and discussed their stories around poverty and the struggles and challenges.

The conference also shared the impact that the charity has had on the local community. Motherwell Cheshire celebrated that they delivered £109,937 of social value over the last 12 months with equates to an economic value of £215,841.

A particular highlight was the impact of the Motherwell Share Hub, which has given out the following to support the local community:

  • 58 pairs of football boots/trainers
  • 183 fancy dress / activity costumes
  • 81 period kits
  • 592 maternity packs
  • 159 toiletry packs
  • 1464 school uniforms
  • 14 prom dresses
  • 223 coats
